Our Story

Behind the Scenes

Healing Hearts Guatemala is a family-run project. Genesis Davies and Irving Hernández (along with their three sons) have always tried to give back where they can. That became possible when outside people stepped in and offered financial aid in times of trouble.

We started with the volcano aid, but really came into our own during the COVID-19 crisis. People truly suffered in Guatemala, where they usually live day-to-day. Without income, many families began to starve and those who needed life-saving medications, like insulin, were no longer able to get it.

Healing Hearts was able to provide food to 100 families every week for months during the worst part of the crisis, as well as ensure diabetics recieved their medications, insulin, and regular blood sugar tests. As things returned to normal, we’ve shifted from food distribution to medical aid.
